31 December 2009 - Changes to Route B3 and new Route B80
From 10 January 2010 there will be some changes to the timetable for route B3. These affect the peak hour service, but midday times remain unchanged.

From the same date we will operate Route B80 for Hertfordshire County Council. This will run from Organ Hall Farm to Hertswood School via Theobald Street, Aycliffe Road, Stapleton Road and Stanborough Avenue - a slightly different routeing from the previous Route B80 (of another bus
operator).

20 December 2009 - Christmas
We wish all our passengers a very Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday and a Happy New Year!
Please refer to Traveline for detailed information on bus services over the holiday period. On Christmas Eve, most evening bus services in Hertfordshire will finish earlier than usual, including our route 242. Click here for details.


22 November 2009 - Tour update
A reminder that we have just four trips from South Herts and North London before Christmas. Three of these are to Bury St Edmunds, Rochester and Winchester which may allow you to complete your Christmas shopping with gifts that are much more welcome than those found at ubiquitous shops throughout the country. This year's London Christmas lights trip looks like being more popular than ever! Whether you have finished your Christmas shopping, or not, we expect to have a number of double decker buses on our popular evening lights tour on which you can indulge yourselves.

20 November 2009 - Fleet update
Restoration of heritage MCW Metrobus M2 is well underway. Some photos can be seen here. Volvo B7 ELV6 has returned, completing the repaint programme of our front line double deckers.

14 November 2009 - Fleet update
Volvo B7 ELV4 is off for a repaint on Monday, completing the repaint of our frontline fleet into latest colours. Heritage MCW Metrobus M2 is also away for repaint at London Bus and Truck. Darts DRL170 and DRL713 have departed for RML Travel of Staffordshire. DRL713 was the last of our vehicles in the blue and yellow colours inherited from our Kent operations.

30 October 2009 - The new ELV4
Sullivan Buses has been around for over 9 years, and as part of our tenth anniversary commemoration we have repainted one of our Volvo B7 double deckers into a colour scheme recalling the livery of the London General Omnibus Company. The vehicle is PN02XBY, which was formerly numbered ELV3, but is now ELV4 following the acquisition of similar bus PL51EGD which has become the new ELV3. Watch out for our 10th anniversary celebrations coming soon!

20 October 2009 - Later buses on routes B76 and B77
To cater for pupils attending after-school activities at the Jewish Free School in Kingsbury, we will be operating later buses from the school on Mondays to Thursdays. There will be departures for Carpenders Park on route B76 and for Radlett on route B77 at 1730. On route B77 the short journey to Organ Hall Farm at 1555 will no longer run.

10 October 2009 - Yet more new low floor buses
We have taken ownership of another two Volvo B7TL low floor double deckers. They originally ran with London General on Transport for London routes in southwest London. They were EVL3 and 6, but will be numbered in the ELV series with us. See the Fleetlist page for more details.

9 October 2009 - Goodbye to Route 606
We ran school route 606 for the last time today. This was our only remaining mainstream Transport for London contract route, but we will continue to run Underground rail replacement services for sometime to come. To mark the passing of the 606, our vintage London Transport Titan, in 1980 style livery, was used. Click here for a photo.

6 October 2009 - Better driving with GreenRoad
Sullivan Buses is pleased to be amongst the first smaller operators in the UK to embrace the GreenRoad system. Buses are being fitted with the latest technology to monitor driving standards and improve passenger comfort and safety, fuel consumption and insurance risks. We are backing up this investment by putting our drivers through a Defensive & Ecosafe Driving CPC course with Tangerine Training. Click here for more information. 3 October 2009 - Days Out update
The first of our 2010 Days Out have been organised. There will be a shopping trips to Peterborough, Newmarket and Southend and chances to visit Anglesey Abbey, The National Stud and Towcester Race Course. See the Days Out page for details and to download our latest brochures.

27 July 2009 - New low floor buses
Due to our expanding rail replacement commitment we have bought another two low floor double deckers. These are Volvo B7TL type which originally ran with London General on Transport for London routes in southwest London. They were EVL31 and 35, but have been numbered ELV2 and 3. 25 July 2009 - Routemaster repainted
AEC Routemaster RML2272 has been repainted into 1980s style London Transport livery. It was used on route 398 today. Click here for a photo.

10 July 2009 - Fleet update
Former Blue Triangle Trident TPL927 is now in our fleet colours.
Titan T890 has been repainted in 1980 colours.

Dart LDP10 has been sold to RML Travel of Stafford.

19 May 2009 - Kenwood House Picnic Concerts
We will be running shuttle services to the 2009 Picnic concerts at Kenwood House on behalf of English Heritage during the summer. Wheelchair-accessible buses will run to and from Underground stations at Golders Green and East Finchley and stop at Kenwood in Hampstead Lane. The first concert will be 27 June when Ray Davies will be performing some of his Kinks classics. Later performers include James Morrison, Simply Red and Jools Holland.

5 April 2009 - Cobham Bus Museum - Route 477
On the occasion of Cobham Bus Museum's open day and rally we ran a vintage bus on the service between the museum at Cobham and the rally site at Wisley Airfield. Although second choice on the day, Metrobus M1069 proved very popular with passengers, showing itself as a "modern classic". ELV1, WVL1 and NV26 were also on display.

30 March 2009 - Route 242 takes to the road
We took up operation of the Monday to Saturday evening service on Route 242 between Potters Bar and Waltham Cross this evening. The first bus can be seen here.

23 March 2009 - Days Out
Our Spring, Summer and Autumn programme of Days Out by double decker bus is now available. It includes dates right through to the end of the year, but just a few places that we will be visiting shortly include Hastings, Whipsnade and the Southend Airshow. Bus and plane enthusiasts should keep 27 September free for the Showbus event at Duxford's Imperial War Museum. Please check out our 2009 programme.

21 March 2009 - Contract changes
We are very happy to announce that we have been awarded Transport for London's "JUB063" contract to operate the weekend rail replacement bus services while London Underground's Jubilee Line is upgraded. At 1.5 million pounds, this is possibly the largest ever contract of it's type. However, we were not successful in retaining the contract for London Buses' school route 606. From the autumn, Metroline, who already run one bus on the route, will operate the entire service.

14 March 2009 - More low floor double deckers
Two 10.5 metre Transbus Tridents with President bodywork will be joining the fleet shortly. Like the three Dennis Tridents delivered recently, they have worked on TfL services in east London with Blue Triangle and Docklands Buses. 14 February 2009 - Hertfordshire County Council contracts
Some contracts for Hertfordshire County Council bus services will be changing from the end of March. Routes R3 and R5 will no longer run after 26 March and routes 853, R16 and W12 will be run by other companies after 27 March. Sullivan Buses will take over the Monday to Saturday evening service on route 242 between Waltham Cross and Potters Bar / Hammond Street from 30 March. Click here for details of route 242.

13 February 2009 - New Trident repainted
Newly purchased TN3 is the first of our East Lancs-bodied Dennis Tridents to be painted into fleet livery. Click here for photo.

16 January 2009 - New buses for rail work
We have taken delivery of three Dennis Trident double deck buses for our rail replacement services. These came from Blue Triangle via Ensign Bus and have worked on Transport for London services in east London in the past. They were numbered TL912, 915 and 917 with Blue Triangle, but are TN1-3 in our fleet. Click here for photo, or see the fleet list for registration numbers.

13 January 2009 - PlusBus alterations
The PLUSBUS scheme has a couple of new features. PLUSBUS 7-day season tickets are now available, in addition to the day, monthly, quarterly and annual versions.
PLUSBUS tickets, including seasons, are now issued separately from the rail tickets, but are still only valid when used in conjunction with a rail journey. Thus a passenger travelling with period return rail tickets may receive two PLUSBUS tickets, one for the outward journey and one for the return journey. 12 January 2009 - Underground rail replacements
We will be running a large number of buses on Underground replacement services over the coming months. Principally we will be covering the Jubilee Line between Finchley Road and Wembley Park and the Northern Line between East Finchley and High Barnet, but we also have buses replacing Metropolitan Line trains to Watford at the end of the month, and will be helping out on other services as required. 11 January 2009 - Fleet update
Our four Dennis Lances which were used on the Thorpe Park Shuttle last year have been decommissioned. They will be replaced this year by new Dennis Darts which will be going to North Kent Coachbuilders for refurbishment very soon. Also stood down permanently are most of our vintage ex-London Transport Leyland Titans which may be disposed of. Meanwhile, Trident DEL1 is off for a repaint.

28 December 2008 - New buses for Thorpe Park Shuttle
On Christmas Eve we took delivery of four new single deck buses. These are 10.1 metre Dennis Darts with front and middle doors which have formerly worked with London United in South West London. They will be repainted blue for the 2009 season on Route 950 running to Thorpe Park from Staines bus and rail stations. Click here for a photo.

7 December 2008 - Christmas Lights trips on 20 December
Come and see the famous West End Christmas lights and famous London landmarks spectacularly lit at night. We will use three buses with public address systems to enable you to identify the many landmarks that we pass.You will see the lights of Oxford and Regent Streets; Piccadilly; Trafalgar Square; Parliament Square; the London Eye, the River Thames; St Paul's, Harrods and much more - all beautifully illuminated.  Mince pies, etc will be provided and a stop will be made at Victoria for a food, drink and comfort break. This is a fantastic evening out for all the family and a great way to start the Christmas celebrations!

28 November 2008 - Dart DN5 repainted
Dart DN5 has returned from repaint. Next up will be DN6 and DN7, followed by Trident DEL1 and Volvo ELV1. Click here for photo.

2 November 2008 - New Volvo double decker
The latest addition to our fleet is a double deck Volvo bus with Wright bodywork. Numbered WVL1, it has been undergoing extensive testing over the past few weeks. It has now been commissioned and was out on Jubilee Line replacement work today. It has previously worked in the Irish Republic, but has now been given a UK registration: GD52SYC.

1 October 2008 - Even bigger savings this Sunday, 5 October
We have obtained vouchers enabling our Days Out passengers to visit Milestones, the award winning living history museum for just £3.75 - half the normal adult admission price. This destination is ideal for the weekend's forecasted weather as this "open-air" museum is contained within a massive building!

22 September 2008 - Summer Holiday Reunion
Sir Cliff Richard was reunited with cast members from "Summer Holiday", 45 years after the hit film was first released. Sullivan Buses supplied Routemaster RM1069 at the unveiling of a plaque in Sir Cliff's honour at Elstree Studios. Click here to read more on the Daily Telegraph website.

5 September 2008 - Showbus and the Imperial War Museum, Duxford
500 buses and coaches are expected at this year's Showbus event at Duxford, Cambridgeshire on Sunday 28 September. Amongst them will be some of our own fleet: green Routemaster RML2428, Trident DEL1, Volvo ELV1 and probably more. We will be carrying passengers from North London and South Hertfordshire with adult fares at just £8 return (excluding admission) and a family ticket at £24. Passengers travelling with us will pay just £8 admission which is half the usual entry fee. Pick up points include Woodside Park Station 0823, New Barnet Station 0844, Stirling Corner (Barnet Lane) 0820, Borehamwood Station ("Woods" PH) 0833, Potters Bar Station 0914. 4 September 2008 - 383 was the best bus route in London to the end
In the final month of operation of route 383 Sullivan Buses took top place in Transport for London's league of bus operators once again, ranking best in four out of five categories and with 100% of scheduled mileage operated. As always, thanks are due to our hard working and conscientious staff and to the loyalty of our passengers. Route 383 is now in the hands of another company, although we still operate school bus 606 for TfL.

31 August 2008 - Chancellor's School buses
From the new term there will be some changes to routes 841 and 841A which serve Chancellor's School. Bus 841 will no longer serve Potters Bar railway station; instead it will run directly along Mutton Lane and so morning buses will run a couple of minutes earlier along most of the route in the mornings. On Fridays both routes will leave the school one hour earlier due to the school's new finishing time. Bus 841A should continue to serve the station, but for the first few weeks only, buses will pick up on the north side of Mutton Lane, just west of Darkes Lane. In the afternoon they will set down passengers at the temporary stop in Darkes Lane, across the road from the station.

11 August 2008 - Closure of Potters Bar Station forecourt
From today, for about 20 weeks, buses on Route 398 will be unable to serve the station forecourt. Instead, buses will stop at a temporary bus stop on the east side of Darkes Lane, a short distance away towards the Post Office.

3 August 2008 - Revised fares on Hertfordshire routes
Fares on contracted bus services throughout Hertfordshire will be increased by a nominal 4% on 31 August. Generally adult single fares in 10p units up to £1.20 will be unchanged; fares from £1.30 and £3.70 will increase by 10p and higher fares will increase by 20p. Fares in 5p units below £1 will increase by 5p. There are some exceptions to the general rule, particularly where contracted services parallel commercial services.

25 July 2008 - Goodbye 383
Just a reminder that we ran Route 383 for the last time today. From tomorrow another company will be running the route for London Buses.

12 July 2008 - Best bus drivers in London
The Driving Standards Agency (an executive agency of the Department for Transport) monitors driving quality on Transport for London's bus network for London Bus Services. Of the 24 bus operators on the network, they ranked Sullivan Buses No.1 for the period 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008. With the figures broken down for the 94 separate depots working London bus routes, our South Mimms depot came 3rd.

19 June 2008 - Best bus operator in London again
Our two London bus routes - 383 and 606 - earned us top place in the TfL league of bus operators yet again. South Mimms depot was rated first in four of five categories during period 02, 2008-9. We were best for the percentage of buses departing on time, the highest percentage of mileage operated, for non-deductible mileage and traffic lost mileage. We also came 4th for the fewest buses departing early. As always, thanks are due to our hard working and conscientious staff and to the loyalty of our passengers.

15 June 2008 - Bus repaint programme update
The programme to repaint all of our Olympians is nearing completion. NV46 is due to return shortly, after which NV45 will be the final NV off to the paintshop.

16 May 2008 - Discounted travel and admission for Thorpe Park
From Sunday 18 May inclusive travel and admission tickets will be on sale all South West Trains ticket offices. They will offer a discount on the full train fare and admission price and can be used for travel on our shuttle bus 950 from Staines station.

16 May 2008 - Extra excursion to Colchester Zoo
On Sunday June 8th we will be running an excursion to Colchester Zoo – one of the best zoos in Europe. See elephants, chimpanzees, orangutans, tigers; lions; komodo dragons; penguins; sealions, anteaters; lemurs and hundreds more animals. A great day out for all ages!

15 May 2008 - Vintage bus to work in Borehamwood
In connection with the 2008 "On the Buses" event in Borehamwood and the Elstree Film festival, we intend to use a 1960s Routemaster bus on routes B1, B2 and B3 in the town, and on route 398 to and from South Mimms and Potters Bar on Saturday 28th June. This bus will operate with a driver and conductor, and will be in addition to the normal wheelchair accessible buses. Normal fares will be charged and Explorer tickets will be accepted (but not issued).
Our modern buses now run along the routes once served by Stan and Jack, and turn around outside Tesco where the Town & District depot once stood. Details of the "On the Buses" event can be found here, and of the Elstree Film Festival, here. Bus times are available here.

12 May 2008 - Alteration to Route 383
Due to National Grid work in Athanaeum Road Route 383 will be diverted until August 2008. The diversion only affects buses towards Woodside Park which will continue along Oakleigh Park North, turn right into Oakleigh Road North, then left into High Road Whetstone and continue as normal. Buses towards High Barnet will continue to use Athenaeum Road as usual.

18 April 2008 - Bus repaint programme
With the receipt of NV44, we have now reached the halfway stage of our bus repaint programme. The operational double deck fleet is being repainted by London Truck & Bus of Northfleet in Kent. Buses dealt with so far this year are VPL174, NV26, 44, 50, & 106. Our 11m Dennis Dart (DN1) was repainted Blue by Salvador Caetano for operation on the Thorpe Park Shuttle.

10 February 2008 - Days Out Spring & Summer
Our latest Days Out excursions brochure is now available. It contains details of our popular day trips from South Herts and North London. Trips include visits to stately homes, zoos, flower shows, air shows, markets, historic towns, steam railways and bus rallies. 10 January 2008 - Classic bus on Route 656
Our green Routemaster, RML2428, will run on route 656 on Sunday, 13 January, duplicating the normal fully-accessible bus. Normal fares will apply, and usual passes will be accepted. Click here for times.
On this day a number of special free bus services are expected to operate to and from St Albans at part of the "Country Bus Rallies" series of events. Click here for further information about "Country Bus Rallies".

1 January 2008 - Route 656 revised
At the request of Hertfordshire County Council, for whom we operate this service, the route is changing from 8th January. Buses will continue to run between Borehamwood and St Albans via Radlett and Shenley, but will no longer run on to Hatfield. Uno's route 606 has been increased to run more frequently between St Albans and Hatfield.
